The Community want to see homelessness a thing of the past!

In December the Breakthrough Action Group were at the Christmas Fayre in Fore Street and talked to many of you who were eager to see homelessness eradicated.  We told you of our plans for an Emmaus Trowbridge.  Everyone was highly in favour of the approach that offered

  • Work each day
  • A place to live in community with others
  • A chance to reconcile past wrongs and learn positively for the future
  • A chance to put something back into the community

Biker Carol Service
About 100 people turned up to the Biker Carol Service put on by bikers from various parts of the country who call themselves “The Knights of Antioch”.

Tez (Terry)
They braved the icy weather to celebrate Christmas with us.  One couple came over by ferry from the Isle of Wight!   It was fun; it had a good message and only lacked the motor bikes themselves, which were not safe to ride in such icy weather conditions.  As Liz spoke about what Breakthrough achieves, The Knights of Antioch made us their charity of the year. Thanks Lads!!! The streets are certainly safer with them around.  Somehow they weren’t impressed by my bicycling skills!!
Where to find us next?
Find us during week of Homeless and Poverty in Fore Street Trowbridge with ideas for Valentine’s Day gifts.
9am ~ 4pm Fore Street, Saturday 5th February.  Great Valentines Paintings from Lorraine Wright!!! Come see!!

Soup Run this winter?
We are running two nights to compliment what the Churches offer, and included helpers from across the community both young and old.  Two of my neighbours have got involved and one of my ex youth club members.
I understand the essential town services under leadership of PC William Taylor also ran one evening before Christmas, giving the community the chance to experience what is needed and why the soup run functions. At the end of December there were AROUND 30 still seeking a place to call home and one person living in a tent.
